Future of Flight - Aerospace Maker Project (AMP): Registration open now! Session starts January 20
An after school class, AMP, gives students in grades 9-12 the chance to work in groups in the Future of Flight's Makerspace, playing with 3D printers and learning about the engineering design process and materials science.
This is a challenging program, with potential to earn a college engineering credit from the University of Washington. Classes are twice a week, 3pm - 6pm, for ten weeks.
Aerospace Maker Project (AMP): This program offers students the opportunity to find answers to the question, "How are aircraft made?" Students work in teams to gain skills and complete tasks in the areas of 3D modeling and 3D printing, materials science, engineering design, professional communication, aircraft manufacturing, and career planning, all while having fun and earning college credit. Teams pick the Future of Flight's Module 1: Engineering Design or Module 2: Materials Science and Manufacturing as their lesson track. Students download and upload assignments using the online iRemix platform. Participants progressively earn electronic badges, some of which represent collections of skills that can be put on a resume. The students' Final Project is a competitive presentation in the FoF Gallery, earning a summary badge. This badge is currently pending UW Bothell accreditation.
