Application Now Open!

Apply Online by February 28, 2018

The online application for the 2017-18 Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) is now available online. 1,850 new students will  be selected to receive funding, professional development support and industry exploration opportunities.

A Few Scholarship Details
The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) supports low- and middle-income students pursuing eligible high-demand majors in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care and encourages recipients to work in Washington state once they complete their degrees. Students must meet additional eligibility criteria.
  • Annual award amount: $2,500 - $7,500 depending on class standing
  • Renewable for up to five years based on credits completed and continued eligibility
  • Selected students receive access to workshops, events and additional support during their time in college.
The application for 2018-19 must be submitted online by February 28, 2018, and students' transcripts must be postmarked by March 7, 2018.
A poster and a sample application are available for you to download, as well as a form to request promotional materials.

Students may attend one of two sessions to learn about the scholarship and apply while there.

Washington Aerospace Scholars (WAS) is seeking high school sophomores!

Washington Aerospace Scholars (WAS) is an online distance learning course and summer experience specifically designed for high school sophomores and juniors interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. The online curriculum is a University of Washington college course focused on NASA’s space exploration program as well as topics in earth and space science.
If they successfully complete the online curriculum, students are invited to participate in multi-day summer experiences that provide them to the opportunity to work with STEM professionals, NASA scientists, university students and STEM educators.

Teachers are also encouraged to apply as evaluators and summer residency facilitators.

Applications for the 2018 session of WAS are available now at the Museum of Flight web site and due by Friday, February 16, 2018.  For questions, contact Paz Clearwater, Education Specialist, The Museum of Flight

Students:  Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium members accepting applications for summer 2018 internships (PAID!)

Washington NASA Space Grant is pleased to invite undergraduates and graduate students from our consortium member colleges and universities to apply for summer internships with our local industry partners.

These internships enable students to concentrate on research activities that supplement their academic coursework and help to prepare them for careers in NASA-related fields.
Awards: All internships are paid experiences. Compensation may vary.

Microsoft Apprentice Program - Applications Open for upcoming high school juniors and seniors
The Microsoft Apprentice Program (MAP) is currently accepting application for the class of FY16 through July 1. The goal of the year long program is to provide under-served high school students with an opportunity to realize their full potential through structured learning activities, hands-on professional work experiences and community mentorship.
Visit www.teenjobs.org for the application details. Please feel free to pass this along to upcoming Junior and Seniors that you know in the local community that would be eligible and interested in the program. Please note the children of Microsoft employees are not eligible.
